Eco- PCO Product Descriptions

Eco-PCO products contain new active ingredients, trademarked as Hexa-Hydroxyl, are based on distinct combinations of different plant essential oils that significantly enhance the activity of these oils against insects. This patented technology demonstrates rapid insecticidal activity by combining oils with a common molecular structure (a six-membered carbon ring with an oxygenated functional group attached. Hexa-Hydroxyl's unique mode of action targets a key neurotransmitter receptor called octopamine, which is found in all invertebrates, but not mammals. Octopamine regulates an insect's heart rate, movement, behavior and metabolism. Interrupting the functioning of octopamine results in a total breakdown of the insect's nervous system.

In addition to the fact that Hexa-Hydroxyl targets a receptor site that doesn't exist within mammals, many of the plant essential oils containing Hexa-Hydroxyl are classified as Generally Recognized As Safe ("GRAS") and/or have been approved for food and beverage consumption by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). As a result of their food grade status, these plant essential oils also qualify for preferential regulatory status with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). EcoPCO® offers minimum risk and biopesticide products, as promulgated under the 1996 Food Quality Protection Act.

As for expert testimonials, here's what Dr. Mike Rust and Mr. Reierson, entomologists at the University of California-Riverside, had to say about the effectiveness of EcoPCO.

"The rapid insecticidal action of the (tree) oil ingredients is intriguing and exciting. Experiments with Hexa-Hydroxyl insecticides suggest that EcoPCO contains fast-acting ingredients that (apparently) toxify insect nerves or other cells (and disrupt vital insect systems). Each of the insects (ants, roaches, fleas) that we exposed to the product succumbed rapidly."

In residual studies, EcoPCO D provided toxic activity from the active ingredients for almost two months, and as Don Reierson adds:

"EcoPCO is also very active as a desiccant, and there is no reason to presume that reasonably well-protected residues would not have a good desiccant effect for as long as the dust remains and doesn't get too moist."
